"...the legend of Narcissus, a youth who knelt daily beside a lake to contemplate his own beauty. He was so fascinated by himself that, one morning, he fell into the lake and drowned. At the spot where he fell, a flower was born, which was called the narcissus.

...

When Narcissus died, the goddesses of the forest appeared and found the lake, which had been fresh water, transformed into a lake of salty tears.

'Why do you weep?' the godesses asked.
'I weep for Narcissus,' the lake replied.
'Ah, it is no surprise that you weep for narcissus,' they said,
'for though we always pursued him in the forest, you alone could contemplate his beauty close at hand.'

'But...was Narcissus beautiful?' the lake asked.
'Who better than you to know that?' the goddesses said in wonder.
'After all, it was by your banks that he knelt each day to contemplate himself!'

The lake was silent for some time. Finally, it siad:

'I weep for Narcissus, but I never noticed that Narcissus was beautiful. I weep because, each time he knelt beside my banks, I could see, in the depth of his eyes, my own beauty reflected.' "

The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho

This version of Narcissus is different from the traditional myths, yet, what a lovely story it is.

The beauty of life can be easily missed. Ironically, what we seek in life is seeked when we are not in it.
We need to do a lot to reach our goals or our dreams but we shall never forget the hints the world gives us.

Do we pursuit our goals?
or
Do our goals pursuit us?

It's been raining for like a month in Hong Kong. As serious as continuous floodings, land-slides and people dying. Even mushrooms are growing tall on the lawn outside Sunny Bay MTR station! I haven't seen such weather in my life.

Waking up everyday hoping it would be sunny. Walking out the house hoping no umbrella is needed. Wishing every moment that rain will stop when I wake up next morning. Then the whole cycle continues, without any sign of changing.

Where is my lovely sun?

Weather is getting stranger and stranger every year. During my last two years (4 years ago) in England, I enjoyed very nice pre-summer in April-May time. All warm and sunny. 2 years later, England has recorded the hottest summer and temperature in Europe reached 40C. This year, the last snow in England fell on an April day.

How long can we survive on Earth? Oil is going to be depleted in 53 years and everyone is fussing about it, but it's sad that we might not even see that day~ Lots have been said about this issue and long ago protecting the environment has been going on in some parts of the world. I am not the most environmentally friendly person, but still I try my best to be one. Only correcting bad habits is not that hard (well, maybe it is for those selfish, extravagant and prince/princess-like HK people).

Every little change in life counts.

When a butterfly flutters its wings in one part of the world, it can eventually cause a hurricane in another.
(This may contradict to my last post but this is a more serious matter)

I always believe everything on Earth happens for a reason and every living creature on Earth has its own use. Everything is interlinked and interdependent. BUT there's one thing that I don't understand.

Why on Earth are there horrible insects like mosquitoes, flies and cockroaches? They are possibly the most hateful and useless creatures in the whole right world. They might do something to the foodchains or whatever in the wild, but what are they doing in the human world?

AND why would anything fly all the way up 14 floors just to hit into a lamp and squash by us humans? Don't they get exhausted after this major excercise?

I do really appreciate some answers.

Dedicated to Every Chinese on Earth:

Dad sent an email to us asking: Why God, if there is one, always punishes poor countries, like Indonesia, China and New Orleans?

This is a question that can never be answered. Even if there is an answer, it will not be agreed by many people.

People always ask another question when tragedies happen: Where was God?

I was asking this very same question inside me when I saw the news about Sichuan's earthquake.

Was God punishing the ones who do not believe in Him?
Was God trying human's ability?
Was God on a holiday and the Devil kicked in?
Was God jealous or showing empathy?

or

Was God, if there is one, giving a chance for Chinese all over the world to be united?
If this is true, isn't it a bit too harsh?

This is another question that can never be answered...

Have faith in, and never forget, the colours of your skins, the colours of your hairs and where you come from.

From Amy Cheung's blog:

"

既為 A 女,自是只看得上 A+男或 A 男。

What can I say?

Typical...

It's unfair that men don't often find the same problem!
